Exhibition on ‘Russian glory of arms’ is held in State Duma

An exhibition on the ‘Russian glory of arms’ is held in the State Duma of the Russian Federation from January 24 to February 5, 2006. It is organized by the Duma Committee on women and children and the Patriarchal center of spiritual education of children and youth at St. Daniel’s monastery.

Among the exhibits are works of the participants in the All-Russian Festival-competition of children’s and youth art entitled ‘Saving power of love and unity’ that took place in 2005 with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia. Over 100,000 people participated in the competition.

The exhibition was opened on 24 January 2006 by Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, E. Pakhova, chairman of the Duma Committee for women, family and children, S. Popov, chairman of the Committee on public associations and religious organizations, Archimandrite Aleksy (Polikarpov), Father Superior of St. Daniel’s Monastery, A. Krutov, deputy chairman of the Committee on informational policy, Heguman Ioasaf (Polyinov) head of the Patriarchal center of spiritual education of children and youth, and V. Nesterenko, a judge of the Festival-competition.

In his greeting speech, Metropolitan Kliment said that the Festival-competition, the State Duma exhibition and introduction of a new state holiday – the Day of People’s Unity show that the Time of trouble in Russia is over. Works by children from all over Russia, Ukraine and other countries reflected the interest of youth to history. And knowledge of history gives love to the Motherland, Orthodoxy and Church.
