Charity action for the needy in St.Seraphim church in Rostov-on-Don

It has been a custom in Old Russia to visit people and give them presents, and also to help the poor and the sick. The church of St.Seraphim of Sarov marks a kind of jubilee: charity actions have been held here for five years and not only on feast days.

‘Some two thousand people got hot meals, clothes, food and shoes for the last two weeks here’, archpriest Ioann Osyak of the Rostov deanery said. The ‘Help your Neighbour’ action is being held with the blessing of Archbishop Panteleimon of Rostov and Novocherkassk.

People from the entire Rostov region bring clothes, shoes, and food to the church to be given to the needy. There is a rehabilitation centre at St.Seraphim church in Rostov-on-Don, where medical doctors give free treatment to their patients.
