Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church meets Russian deputy minister of foreign affairs G.B.Karasin

On 26 December 2005 His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia met with deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation G.B.Karasin and president of the International Foundation of the Unity of Orthodox People V.A.Alexeyev. The meeting took place in the Patriarch’s working residence e in Chisty side street.

G.Karasin made the point of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy’s contribution into cooperation of the Church with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He further noted that the Ministry actively works for strengthening the positions of Russia in the world, including countries of the former Soviet Union, many of which are located on the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate. The Minister underscored the importance of Church-State cooperation in foreign policy.

The participants in the meeting discussed other matters concerning the relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
