The Church of the Holy Protector of Russian Army is restored in Valdai

Residents of Valdai District and guests of this reserve land have collected first 200 thousand rubles for restoring the Church of St. Alexander of Neva.

According to the head of Valdai district Alexander Dryanitsin, local residents showed initiative to restore this church in September 2005. Among them are officers of the Russian Army and figures of culture.

The church was situated in the center of the historic settlement of Yazhelbitsy and was built on the donations of Emperor Alexander I and villagers in 1805. Today, the church is tumbledown.
