Divine Service to commemorate St. Andrew the First-Called is celebrated in the only Orthodox church in Sakhalin

Military personnel of the Diocese of Sakhalin commemorated the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called in the only Orthodox church in Sakhalin on the territory of the Korsakov military union on December 13. Among those who celebrated the divine service were Hegumen Tikhon (Dorovsky), secretary of the Diocese of Yuzhi Sakhalinsk and the Kurils, and Rev. Viktor Gorbach, head of diocesan missionary department.

The clergymen conducted a prayer service to St. Andrew the First-Called after the Divine Liturgy and Fr. Tikhon (Dorovsky) addressed the participants. Fr. Tikhon told about St. Andrew’s life and tradition to worship him, which had always existed among the Russian soldiers. In conclusion, Hegumen Tikhon wished all the present to continue their service in Russian navy and frontier troops for the welfare of our Fatherland through the prayers of St. Andrew.
