The 10th National Festival Seminar on Orthodoxy on Radio and TV opens in Moscow

The 10th Nation Festival Seminar on Orthodox on Radio and TV opened in a solemn ceremony on December 13, 2005, at the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Opening the festival, Archpriest Vladimir Solovyev, Publishing Council chairman, noted that ‘films and programs of Orthodox TV studios and producing centers have been in a great demand. They are broadcast not only by regional but also federal channels. Their professional level is growing’. Father Vladimir reminded the participants in the festival that ‘to speak about our spiritual traditions, our evangelical ideals and our Church responsibly and professionally is a difficult task, but we should find our own approach to it. The ability to see the most important thing, to find the right image and tone, the ability not to entertain but to educate is what all the journalists writing on church themes are called to’.

On December 14 the festival seminar will work in round-table conferences and master-classes, and on December 15 the participants will make a pilgrimage to the Optina Monastic Hermitage.

The Orthodoxy on Radio and TV festival seminar is attended by over 60 representatives of state-run and private TV and radio broadcasting companies and producing centers from various regions in Russia. The festival is held with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy. It is organized by the Institute for the Professional Development of TV and Radio Workers and the Moscow Patriarchate Publishing Council with the support of St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation.
