Conference on the ‘Spiritual Heritage of the Three Hierarchs Church’ is held in the Russian Cultural Center in Paris

The fifth and the last for this year conference on the ‘Spiritual Heritage of the Three Hierarchs Church’ dedicated to the history of the Moscow Patriarchate representation in France was held in the Russian Cultural Center in Paris on December 9, 2005. Lecturers from the Moscow Theological Schools professor A. Svetozarsky and V. Burega delivered their reports at the conference organized by the Korsun Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in France and the Russian cultural center in Paris.

Professor Svetozarsky made a report on ‘Metropolitan Veniamin Fedchenkov – hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church of the 20th century’ where he uncovered spiritual countenance of the founder of the Three Hierarchs Church.

V. Burega’s report on ‘Archimandrite Dionisy (Shambo) and relations of the French-speaking community with the Moscow Patriarchate in the documents of the state archive of the Russian Federation’ narrated about the unknown and dramatic page in the history of Orthodoxy in France – an attempt to introduce an Orthodox service of Western rite in one of the communities.

Archbishop Innokenty of Korsun headed the conference.

A reception for the participants and guests of the conference was given in the Russian cultural center.
