Strategic Missile Troops Academy marks its 185th anniversary

A reflection-action conference on the Role of the Strategic Missile Troops Academy in Ensuring the Defensive Capacity of the Country: Experience and Prospects, devoted to 185^th anniversary of the Academy, took place on December 6 in Moscow.

Among the speakers were Gen. N. Pankov, stated clerk of the Defense Ministry, Gen. Leut. N. Solovtsev, commander of the Russian Strategic Missiles Troops, and Archbishop Alexy of Orekhovo-Zuevo.

With the blessing of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Alexy presented the Academy with a church banner bearing an image of Our Saviour not-Made-with-Hands, and small pennant copies to the Great Patriotic War veterans, Gen. Col. I. Shevtsov, USSR’s Hero, Gen. Col. Solovtsev, and Gen. Col. Yu, Kirillov, chief of the Academy.

Participating in the work of the conference were Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov, chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces, and Rev. Alexy Yakovlev, DECR staff member.
