Religious organizations are exempted from land and real estate taxes in Byelorussia

Byelorussian president A. Lukashenko issued a decree to exempt religious organizations from land and real estate taxes.
Property of religious organizations that can be referred to as main sources and is used for religious purposes is exempted from real estate tax.
They include sanctuaries, icons, shrines and items necessary for conducting rites and religious ceremonies such as crosses, church banners, beads, liturgical vestments and literature.
‘The measures taken will help improve financial position of religious organizations financed only on voluntary donations of religious believers and intensify their social, educational and humanitarian activity’, Byelorussian president’s press service noted.
