Irkutsk governor visits Orthodox grammar school for girls

On 3 December 2005, the governor of Irkutsk Region Alexander Tishanin visited an Orthodox city grammar school for girls.

The grammar school is the only Orthodox educational establishment in the city working in compliance with the program of a secondary school. The Orthodox school wins many educational competitions. However, it lacks equipment and financing and it deprives it of an opportunity to keep at a desired educational level.

The problem of financing was raised at the meeting of the governor with the teachers. Tishanin responded: ‘I came here with my colleagues to help decide financial problems of the school. The head of the Finance Department V. Bondareva came with us and I think we will solve this topical question’. The governor stated that the issues of salaries for teachers and restoration of school church were also in the agenda and promised to help buy a bus for schoolgirls.
