Conference on ‘Globalization and Interpretation of Human Rights: view from Russia and Europe’ is held in State Duma

On 21 November 2005, an international scientific conference on the ‘Globalization and Interpretation of Human Rights: view from Russia and Europe’ was held in the State Duma.
The participants in the conference including Russian and foreign political scientists shared their views on the threat of secular globalization and moral relativism and discussed the problem rooted in one-sided interpretation of human rights from the positions of active liberalism dominating in the West.
Archpriest Alexander Makarov and P. Shashkin, DECR MP staff members, represented the Russian Orthodox Church.

N. Narochitskaya, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, urged to tell between democratic understanding of human rights and their intensively promoted liberal interpretation.
