HIV-infected children baptized in Irkutsk

In November 2005, Fr. Ignaty and Fr. Dimitry from the Znamensky Monastery in Irkutsk baptized HIV-infected children treated in the local hospital. Parishioners of Orthodox Churches and students of the Irkutsk Orthodox School for girls became their godparents.

According to the press-service of the Irkutsk Diocese, pastoral care for the HIV-infected children is carried out in the frameworks of the diocesan charitable program. Clerics from the Znamensky Monastery give communion to the sick children, take them to Divine Liturgies, collect money to buy them cloths, medicine and toys.
