Foundations of Christianity and Islam to be studied in Kabardino-Balkarian schools

The foundations of Religion – Islam and Orthodoxy will be taught in Kabardino-Balkarian schools, Republican head A. Kanokov said. According to him, this is necessary in order to help youth avoid extremes.

‘If we do not control these factors, we shall abandon our positions for more radical people to occupy them’, A. Kanokov said. Republican representatives plan to introduce criminal proceeding for spreading the ideas of wahhabism and other radical teachings.

‘We want to make the RF State Duma consider the law on radicalization of Islam – wahhabism and other teachings, so people should bear responsibility for spreading these ideas’, A. Kanokov stated.

As to giving out bodies of the militants killed in Nalchik, the Kabardinian President said that the Republican Security Council decided not to pass them to relatives. ‘We decided not to adhere to the letter of the law by a majority vote in the Security Council’, A. Kanokov noted.
