The International Scientific Conference on ‘Eschatological Teaching of the Church’ is to be held in Moscow

The ‘Eschatological Teaching of the Church’ International Scientific Conference is to be held in the conference hall of the ’Danilovskaya’ hotel on November 14-17, 2005. His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia will chair the meeting. Among the participants are members of the Holy Synod. Such conferences take place once in two years and are church scientific forums of the Russian Orthodox Church. The previous conferences were devoted to the ‘Teaching of the Church on Man’ (2001), and the ‘Orthodox Teaching on Church’ (2003).

The conference is actual for modern church life now as believers discuss signs to mark the end of history, methods of personal identification, processes of globalization and other events of the eschatological character.

The conference has an interdisciplinary status. Historians, specialists on religion, philosophers, and political scientists will also participate in the meeting. About 150 members from Russia and other countries are expected. Among them are prominent theologians from different Local Orthodox Churches and representatives of non-Orthodox Christian traditions. The Round Table on Globalization and Eschatology will be held in the frameworks of the conference.

The forum is to be opened in the conference hall of the ‘Danilovskaya’ Hotel at 10.00 on November 14.
