Latvian President invites His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia to visit her country

President Vaira Vike-Freiberga of Latvia officially invited His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia to visit Latvia in 2006. The invitation to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was extended during her meeting with Ambassador Andris Teikmanis of Latvia in Russia and Metropolitan Alexander of Riga and All Latvia.
President V.Vike-Freiberga underscored that a visit of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to Latvia would be an important religious event and would also be conducive to the strengthening of relations between Russia and Latvia.
Metropolitan Alexander told the President about the restoration of the Riga Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.
