Meeting of Governmental Commission on Religious Association

The Governmental Commission on Religious Associations met on October 25, 2005. The session was headed by A. Sokolov, Chairman of the Commission and Minister of Culture and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.

Practical questions of cooperation between state and religious associations were discussed. Adopted was the conception of federal law on transferring religious property to religious organizations. Among the discussed issues also was an expertise of publications imported to Russia by religious organizations.

Among the speakers were Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, DECR MP Deputy Chairman, Rev. Vladimir Shmaly, Prorector of the Moscow Theological Academy, K. Chernega, legal expert of the Moscow Patriarchate.
