The first children’s Elizabeth readings will be held in St.Petersburg

The Lakhta sisterhood of the holy martyr Elizabeth plans to hold the first children’s Elizabeth readings timed to the birthday of the Great Princess Elizabeth. The readings will be held during the days of autumn vacation on October 31 –November 1 with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of St.Petersburg and Ladoga.
Taking part in the readings will be the pupils of Sunday schools from St.Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Sergiev Posad. The participants were invited to speak on ‘Charity in Russia: History and the Present Day’, ‘My Orthodox Russia’, ‘History of a church’, ‘Venerated Holy Sites’.
It is expected that some 20 reports and literary and musical composition will be presented. Some of them will be dedicated to the memory of the holy martyr Elizabeth and other members of the Imperial Family, as well as to the history of the Orthodox sisterhoods.
The second day of the conference will include pilgrimage to the holy sites of St.Petersburg with visits to St.John’s Monastery, the Laura of St.Alexander Nevsky and Novodevichy Convent.
