Days of Serbian and Montenegrin culture to be held in Krasnoyarsk

The Days of Serbian and Montenegrin culture and spirituality are to take place in Krasnoyarsk on September 25-30, 2005. Archbishop Antony of Krasnoyarsk and Yenisei will patronize the program.
The ‘Krasnoyarskoe Voskresenie’ cultural center initiated the event. Among the organizers also are the Diocese of Krasnoyarsk, city administration, cultural-historical museum, the ‘Stolby’ state preserve, and state scientific library of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
Archbishop Antony of Krasnoyarsk and Yenisei visited Serbia and Montenegro with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia in summer 2004 soon after well-known international photo exhibition ‘Serbia, the 25th shot …’ in Krasnoyarsk. ‘When in Serbia, you feel as if you came to the nearest and dearest. Such meetings always help understand each other better. Today it also makes us sympathize to Serbian people in their hard trials’, Archbishop Antony said.
Among the participants are Metropolitan Amfilohy of Montenegro, Archimandrite Antony (Pantelich), rector of the Moscow representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and Mr. Neboisha Yerkovich, councilor on press and culture of the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro in the Russian Federation.
Metropolitan Amfilohy and Metropolitan Antony will conduct a divine service in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, one of the oldest churches of Krasnoyarsk, on the eve of the Elevation of the Cross. Next day they will celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Elevation in Lesosibirsk, which the biggest newly built Orthodox church in Ural. They are also to visit other churches and monasteries of Krasnoyarsk and Yeniseijsk.
Lections on ‘Serbia and Montenegro today; prospects of cooperation with the Russian Federation’ by Metropolitan Amfilohy and Mr. Neboisha Yerkovich will be delivered at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University. Yugoslavian films will be demonstrated for free in city cinemas.
The exhibition on ‘Serbia and Montenegro. View from Siberia’ will be opened in the Krasnoyarsk cultural and historical museum on September 29. Presentation of the photo album will be also held there.
