Bishop Feofan visits Grozny

Bishop Feofan of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz visited Grozny on September 22, 2005, during his archastoral visitation to parishes.

In the Chechen capital, Bishop Feofan visited the Church of Archangel Michael. In this church under restoration, he was welcomed by members of the Orthodox community in Grozny. He conducted a prayer singing to God’s Archangel Michael and said a prayer for an early completion of the construction work.

In a talk to the faithful, Bishop Feofan expressed the hope that the church would soon be restored to its former magnificence and its bells would call parishioners to come to pray for peace and harmony in the Republic of Chechnya. ‘We should pray’, he said, ‘because it is only prayer that can give us strength and fortitude in the hard living conditions in Grozny’.
