All-Russian Scientific and Theological Conference on ‘Heritage of Seraphim of Sarov and Destiny of Russia’ to take place in Moscow and Diveevo

All-Russian Scientific and Theological Conference on ‘Heritage of Seraphim of Sarov and Destiny of Russia’ is to take place on the initiative of the Foundation of St. Seraphim of Sarov, the Russian Academy of Sciences and Moscow State Institute of International Relations on September 29 – October 1, 2005. It will be held in the frameworks of ‘Russia in spiritual search of the modern world’ program.

Among the participants are representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Culture and Mass Media, lecturers and students of Higher Educational Establishments.

A plenary session is to be held in Moscow Institute of International Relations at 11.00 a.m. on September 29, 2005.

Sessions on sections: ‘Russia as viewed by contemporary mankind’, ‘The Russian Orthodox Church and Christian tradition in late 20th –early 21st centuries’ and ‘Heritage of St. Seraphim of Sarov and problems of education in modern Russia’ are to take place in Diveevo on September 30 – October 1.

Round tables on the ‘Orthodox Church in informational space today’ and ‘Charity as institution of civil society’ will be held in the frameworks of the conference.

Participants will visit places connected with St. Seraphim in Diveevo and Sarov.
