Book on role of Orthodoxy in Chekhov’s work and life is published in Nizhni Novgorod

New book about Russian writer and dramatist Anton Chekhov went on sale in Orthodox bookshops in Nizhni Novgorod. The author of the book ‘Orthodox Chekhov’ Alevtina Chadaeva is a writer, philologist and warden of the Church of the Holy Trinity in the town of Vetluga. She thinks that Russian literature should be analyzed in the cultural context.

The book is a collection of A. Chadaeva’s publications devoted to the great classic. Her first essay ‘Righteous Princesses Tatiana Larina’ was published in ‘Nizhni Novgorod’ magazine and it took her seven years to accomplish the book.

‘The school gives a perverted conception of the Russian literature’, A. Chadaeva thinks. ‘I decided to look at the works of Russian classics from the position of faith, in which they were brought up’.
