The priests who defended Sevastopol to be commemorated

The priests who participated in the defense of Sevastopol during the Crimea wars will be commemorated in the frameworks of the 150^th anniversary of city in September 2005.

On 8 September 2005, a requiem service will conducted in the common cemetery where over 100 thousands Sevastopol’s defenders were buried. One of the last city’s defenders – the chaplain whose remains have been found recently – will be buried this day, 150 years after the defense had finished.

It is also planned to open the monument to St. Andrew the First-Called on the Fiolent Cape in the Monastery of St. George. Its monks actively participated in the heroic defense of Sevastopol.
