An exhibition of works by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna to open on August 9, 2005, in Moscow

An exhibition of works by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, the youngest daughter of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Fyodorovna, will open on August 9, 2005, at the Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery in Prechistenka 19. The display called ‘The Grand Duchess’s Art’ will show over 200 water-colour and oil works by Grand Duchess Olga as well as archive materials, historical photographs, personal belongings and applied art pieces.

The exhibition is organized by the Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna Charity with the support of and in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Culture, Russian State Archives, Russian Academy of Fine Arts, and the Canadian and Danish Embassies in Moscow.

Collected in various countries, such as Canada, USA, France, Denmark, the works have been provided graciously by O. N. Kulikovskaya-Romanova, the Grand Duchess’s daughter-in-law.

The exhibition was on display earlier in Washington (2001), Moscow (2002), Yekaterinburg (2004), St. Petersburg (2005) and everywhere it was met with an enthusiastic response of visitors.

The exhibits highlight the life and work of the Grand Duchess, inviting visitors to make an exciting journey into a world of history as reflected in the life of an outstanding person. Profound emotions, observations and experiences are reflected against the background of cultural and natural peculiarities of Russia, Denmark and Canada, where the family of the Grand Duchess lived.

The exposition presents the Grand Duchess as an original and bright person with a sensitive perception of the world as well as a subtle and insightful landscape painter. Her open nature always ready to help people is reflected in her paintings, bright, kind, joyful, filled with love of life, nature and people.

The exhibition will last till August 29.
