Akhmad Kadyrov Center will put in order the Orthodox cemeteries in Chechnya

There are about five hindered cemeteries in Chechnya. One fifth of them are Christian. Muslim communities can find means for keeping their burial places in order, while Orthodox cemeteries remain neglected, since most of the Russian population had to leave the republic in the mid-90s.

Considering this fact, the Akhad-haji Kadyrov Foundation, a regional public organization, has decided to finance the arrangement of all the Orthodox cemeteries in Chechnya.

The Chechen presidential press-service underlines that ‘Islam demands respect for the memory of the dead regardless of their faith. This is a tribute to our compatriots of all nationalities’.

The Kadyrov foundation was initiated by Ramzan Kadyrov in July 2004 to commemorate the late Chechen president. For the last year the foundation has given aid to disabled people, low-income families and orphans. It has allocated funds for the restoration of historical mosques and cemeteries in the villages of Ilasha-Yurt and Mesker-Yurt. Houses have been restored or built for militiamen and security workers who were wounded in the fight with bandits. The foundation also pays for the treatment of the wounded and gives aid to the families of law-enforcement workers who were killed in Chechnya.
