St. Andrew the-First-Called sets off on voyage

St. Andrew the-First-Called church ship is to set off on a voyage down the Ob River on August 15 from Novosibirsk.

According Vice-Governor Andrey Filichev, chairman to the voyage organizing committee, this traditional charity action will be carried out in cooperation with the Novosibirsk Regional Administration and the Novosibirsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Among the participants are social welfare officials, medical staff, clergy and cultural workers. They will visit 28 remote villages down the Ob, this great Siberian river.

At each stop, locals will have an opportunity to visit a doctor, social pedagogue, psychologist and other specialists on board Andrew the-First-Called.

During anchorage along the route, all those who wish to do so will have an opportunity to be baptized, to take communion, to make confession, to pray at divine services and to discuss their problems with a priest.
