To: His Eminence Archbishop John of Yaroslavl and Kostroma,

Locum Tenens of the Old Believers Metropolitan’s See of Moscow and All Russia

Your Eminence,

It was with deep regret that we learned about the sudden death of His Eminence Andrian, the Old Believers Metropolitan of Moscow and All Russia.

During a year and a half of his ministry as head of the Russian Orthodox Old Believers Church, Vladyka Andrian had done a lot for the good of his spiritual children and greatly contributed to the life of society by maintaining intransient spiritual and moral values rooted in historical tradition of the Old Church.

Sharing the grief of your loss, I ask you to convey my sincere condolences to the archpastors, clergymen and laymen of the Russian Orthodox Old Believers Church.

A new stage in the development of good relations between the Old Believers and the Moscow Patriarchate is connected with the name of the deceased Primate. While praying for the rest of the Most Reverend Andrian’s soul in the mansions of the righteous, we express our hope for worthy continuation of his good undertakings. May his memory be eternal!

With love in the Lord,

Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad,

Chairman Department for External Church Relations
