On 25 July 2005 His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Muhammad Hosni Mubarak in connection with the terrorist attacks in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The text of the Patriarch’s telegram see below.
His Excellency
Mr. Muhammad Hosni Said Mubarak
President of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Your Excellence,
It is with grief that I have learned about terrorist attacks in Sharm El-Sheikh and numerous victims of this crime.
Evil is sweepingly spreading round the earth. Terrorist do not have mercy even to their compatriots and people of the same religion, they bring death and sufferings even to their own house.
Innocent blood shed in Egypt, Russia and other countries of the world makes us testify again and again: there should be no place in society for those who commit terrorist attacks against peaceful people, and for those who support or excuse the villains. Also blameworthy are those who, knowing about the imminent crimes, keep felonious silence not trying to protect the life of innocent people.
I mourn for the numerous victims and sympathize with the injured and those, who lost their relatives. I pray that the arm of any criminal, who intends to shed innocent blood, should be stopped. May ‘the heavens reveal his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him:This is the wicked man ‘s portion from God, the heritage decreed for him by God ‘ (Job 20:27-29)
+ALEXY,
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
