In connection with the series of terrorist attacks resulted in death of innocent people, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate expressed his condolences to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Hosni Mubarak.
The text of the telegram see below.
His Excellency
Mr. Muhammad Hosni Said Mubarak
President of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Your Excellency,
I mourn with the people of Egypt for the numerous innocent victims of the terrorist attack in Sharm-Al-Sheikh.
The actions of the villains, about whom prophet Isaiah said: ‘Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, desolation and destruction are in their highways‘ (Is 59:7) deserve common condemnation and just punishment.
I am convinced that the tragedy, which befell your people, will not leave anyone indifferent, as we all should be united in the struggle against misanthropy, the most terrible form of which now is terror. Particularly disagreeable are groundless attempts to justify this evil by religious norms, though it is evident that anyone who participates in this lawlessness is ‘an abomination to the Lord‘ (Deut 25:16).
I sincerely condole with the families of the victims and pray to relieve the pain of the suffering.
With respect,
Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad
