23 мая 2005 в рабочей резиденции Святейшего Патриарха Московского и всея Руси Алексия II в Чистом переулке состоялась встреча Предстоятеля Русской Православной Церкви с министром экономики и коммуникации Эстонии, лидером Центристской партии Эстонии Эдгаром Сависааром и членом Рийкикогу (Парламента) Эстонии Айном Сеппиком. Во встрече также принял участие первый заместитель председателя Комитета по международным делам Государственной Думы Российской Федерации Л.Э.Слуцкий.

http://www.mospat.ru His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia met on May 23, 2005, with Mr. Edgar Savissar, Estonian Minister of Economy and Communication and leader of the Estonian Centrist party, and Mr. Ain Seppik, member of the Estonian Parliament. They were joined in their talk by Mr. L. Slutsky, first deputy head of the Russian Federation State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

 

The discussion, held in the Estonian language, concerned the signing of a boundary treaty between Russia and Estonia.

 

Answering questions from journalists, Mr. Savissar said that this treaty took two years to prepare and it would benefit the relations between the two countries.

 

Mr. Savisaar also informed the journalists that during his meeting with His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II, they discussed economic and religious relations, the transfer of property to the Russian Orthodox Church and several other matters, including the construction of an Orthodox Church of Our Lady the Quick to Hearken in Tallinn. The foundation stone for it was blessed by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy during his primatial visit to Estonia in September 2003. There are some 100 thousand people living at Lasnamjae, the largest district in Tallinn, where the Russian Orthodox church is being built.
