Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church receives the Kuwait Ambassador Suleiman al-Morjan

His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia met with His Excellency Suleiman al-Morjan, Kuwait Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, on April 18, 2005, at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence at St. Daniel’s monastery.

The Ambassador of Kuwait, who arrived in Russia in January 2005, conveyed to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church a message of greetings from the leadership of his country. His Excellency al-Morjan emphasised the important place that the Orthodox Church occupies in the life of Russian society. His Holiness the Patriarch, in his turn, explained to his guest the religious situation in Russia, noting the positive role that Moslems and representatives of other traditional religions play in the life of the country.

They also discussed questions involved in the strengthening of relations between the two nations, emphasising the need for peaceful co-existence and fruitful cooperation in the interests of people of various religions and cultures.
