His Holiness Patriarch Alexy sends his condolences over the earthquake in Indonesia

His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia sent a message to Indonesian President Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, expressing his condolences over the disaster that had taken away thousands of human lives. Below is the full text of the message.

 

Your Excellency,

 

I offer you and all people of Indonesia my deep condolences over the tragic earthquake which has carried away thousands of human lives.

 

May the Lord help the injured and those who have lost their relatives and homes to survive the sufferings. May the dead find eternal rest.

 

Sharing the pain of the Indonesian people, I pray that normal life may be restored in the affected districts as soon as possible. May the Lord’s blessing be with those who work and help their neighbors to overcome the terrible consequences of the catastrophe. 

 

I believe that the people of Indonesia will withstand the hard trials which have fallen to their lot with dignity and endurance.
