His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II Sends His Greetings to the Heads of Christian Confessions Adhering to the Western Paschalia

His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia sent paschal greetings to the Primates of Christian Churches, who celebrate Pascha in accordance with the Western Paschalia. This year the feast of the Resurrection of Christ fell on March 27 by this method of calculating the date of Pascha.

Among the addressees of the Patriarchal message are: Pope John Paul II of Rome, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians Karekin II, Archbishop Rowan Williams of Canterbury, and heads of other confessions, which adhere to the Western Paschalia.

Christ is Risen!

According to St. John Chrysostom, the day of Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation of the world, the beginning of reconciliation, the cessation of hostility, the destruction of death, and the defeat of the devil.
