To: Ms Ulia Timoshenko

Prime Minister of Ukraine

Dear Ulia Vladimirovna,

Now when you begin your work on the responsible post of the Prime Minister, I kindly ask you to accept my congratulations.

I hope that the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers headed by you will work efficiently and justly, aiming at the welfare of all Ukrainian people.

To my point of view, today it is especially important to find new ways of partnership between Church and state, which will be free from biliousness and hostility. I believe that fruitful cooperation between the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and state in common affair of spiritual revival of the nation is possible.

I assure you that the Russian Orthodox Church is ready to strengthen traditional cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities for creating moral basis of the civil society and strengthening inter-religious and inter-confessional peace and concordance.

Please accept my wishes of good health and success in responsible work undertaken by you.

With respect,

Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad

Chairman

Department for External Church Relations
