THE STATE DUMA AND THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH HOLD PARLIAMENTARY HEARINGS ON ‘RELIGION AND HEALTH’
The State Duma Committee on health care and sports together with the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate will hold parliamentary hearings on ‘Religion and Health’.
Taking part in the parliamentary hearings will be Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the DECR MP; Mr.N.Gerasimenko, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for health care and sports; representatives of the traditional religions of Russia and the subjects of the Russian Federation; clergymen, scholars and medical doctors.
The role of religion in the formation of the healthy way of life, the participation of religious organizations in the medical and charity activities, the realization of social programs, and possible directions and forms of common actions in the field of health care will be discussed. The hearing will be held in the conference hall of the ‘Danilovskaya’ hotel.
