METROPOLITAN SERGY OF SOLNECHNOGORSK CELEBRATES THE JUBILEE OF HIS EPISCOPAL CONSECRATION

30 January 2002 marked the 20th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Sergy of Solnechnogorsk, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, a permanent member of the Holy Synod and Chairman of the Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry.

That same day Metropolitan Sergy concelebrated the Divine Liturgy and the prayer service of thanksgiving with Bishop Gury and Bishop Mark of Khabarovsk and Priamurie in the Cathedral of the Epiphany.

After the Divine Liturgy Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna read out the greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Alexy and handed over to Metropolitan Sergy the Order of St.Mark, Metropolitan of Moscow (2nd class). Metropolitan Pitirim of Volokolamsk and Yuriev, other bishops and state and public figures also greeted Metropolitan Sergy. The Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations was absent from Moscow, and his greetings were conveyed to Metropolitan Sergy of Solnechnogorsk by Archbishop Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, first deputy chairman of the DECR MP.
