HIS HOLINESS ALEXY II, PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA, EXPRESSES HIS CONDOLENCES TO RELATIVES OF THE RUSSIANS KILLED IN THE MILITARY HELICOPTER CRASH IN CHECHNYA AND THE APARTMENT HOUSE EXPLOSION IN MOSCOW
After the consecration of Prophet Elias’ Chapel in the Russian Long-Distance Aviation headquarters, His Holiness expressed his sincere condolences to relatives of the Russians killed in the military helicopter crash in Chechnya and the apartment house explosion in Moscow.
“It was great sorrow for us to hear of the tragic crash of the Russian helicopter in Chechenya, in which 115 officers and servicemen had been killed”, His Holiness said. “On the day of national mourning the people of God will pray for the salvation of their souls.”
“At night one more tragedy occurred as an apartment house exploded in the Academician Korolev Street, Moscow, in which several human lives were taken. We extend our sincere condolence to relatives of the victims and to those who have lost their flats”, His Holiness the Patriarch said.
