HIS HOLINESS THE PATRIARCH EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES OVER THE TRAGEDY IN LVOV
His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia sent the following message to His Beatitude Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, concerning the air crash in Lvov, which entailed numerous losses of life:
“Your Beatitude, dear Vladyko:
With deep sadness I have learnt about the tragedy that happened in Lvov. The death of dozens of people including children echoed with pain in my heart.
Kindly convey the feelings of most sincere compassion to those who suffered grave injures and lost their relatives and friends.
May the Lord give rest in heavenly mansions to all those who died in the air crash. May He heal the wounded and strengthen all the bereaved.
This is a reminder to us how responsible man should be in dealing with formidable and complex modern technology.
I hope and trust that the Church, state and people in Ukraine will do everything to relieve the suffering of the living and to perpetrate the memory of those who died”.
