THE 10th JUBILEE MEETING OF THE INTERRELIGIOUS COUNCIL OF RUSSIA
The Interreligious Council of Russia (ICR) marked its 10th anniversary by the meeting at the Danilovsky Hotel on June 25, 2002.
Among the participants in the meeting were His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Supreme Mufty Talgat Tadjudin, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Governance of Muslims in Russia, Mufty Magomet Albogachiev, Chairman of the Coordination Center of Muslims of Northern Caucasus, Adolf Shaevich, Chief Rabbi of Russia, Pandido Hambo Lama Damba Aushev, Head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, Damir Gizatullin, Vice-Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European Part of Russia, A. Lakshin, a representative of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Russia, Chairman of the Magen Liga.
The participants were greeted by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia (see full text below), Mufty Magomet Albogachiev, Chairman of the Coordination Center of Muslims of Northern Caucasus, Gennady Poltavchenko, Plenipotentiary of the Russian President and Pandido Hambo Lama Damba Aushev, Head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia.
Metropolitan Kirill made a report about the work the ICR had done for three and a half years of its existence. Roman Silantiev, ICR executive secretary, outlined the priorities in the ICR work for 2002 – 2006. B. Hight, President of the Spassky Vorota insurance group spoke on behalf of the ICR Board of Trustees that unites leading business and public figures, who are aware of their belonging to Orthodox Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism.
After the meeting His Holiness Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia gave a reception in honor of the ICR Presidium and the ICR Board of Trustees.
