The Russian Orthodox Church Celebrates the 12th Anniversary of Her Primate’s Enthronement

THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH CELEBRATES THE 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER PRIMATE’S ENTHRONEMENT
On June10, 2002, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, there was a solemn worship dedicated to the 12th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy’s II of Moscow and all Russia as Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church. Thousands of faithful, priests, parishioners of Moscow churches and guests of the capital came to congratulate His Holiness.
His Holiness Patriarch Alexy celebrated the Divine Liturgy and a thanksgiving, together with fifty six hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church, representatives of Local Orthodox Churches, deans and members of the Moscow Diocesan Council.
After the Liturgy His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of St Petersburg and Ladoga, the eldest-consecrated bishop and a permanent member of the Holy Synod, congratulated His Holiness on behalf of the clergy and flock of the Russian Orthodox Church.
An icon of the Mother of God of Kazan was presented to the Primate.
In the evening of the same day a festive reception dedicated to the 12th anniversary of the enthronement took place at the refectory chambers of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Among the guests were many outstanding public and political figures, scientists, cultural leaders and artists.
