His Holiness Patriarch Alexy meets with American public figures

HIS HOLINESS PATRIARCH ALEXY MEETS WITH AMERICAN PUBLIC FIGURES

On June 3, 2002 His Holiness Alexy II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, received a representative delegation of the James Madison Council, at the Synodal residencein the Danilov Monastery. This influential American public organization consisting of prominent businessmen and politicians was established to support the manifold work of the Library of the Congress.

During the conversation, His Holiness the Patriarch told the American guests about the problems the Russian Orthodox Church faced in the Soviet period and the revival of the Russian Orthodoxy in the post-communist era. Projects of bilateral cultural cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
