HIS BEATITUDE ARCHBISHOP CHRISTODOULOS AND HIS DELEGATION VENERATE ORTHODOX SHRINES IN MOSCOW

On May 7, Archbishop Christodoulos, Metropolitan Kirill, the delegation of the Greek Orthodox Churches and their party went for a brief walk in Moscow and visited Red Square.

On their way they were warmly greeted everywhere by Muscovites and visitors to the Russian capital city who asked for their archpastoral blessing and wished them prayerfully God’s help in their work for the good of Universal Orthodoxy.

The clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan gave their dear guests a warm welcome. Accompanied by His Eminence Kirill, the official delegation of the Greek Orthodox Church led by His Beatitude Archbishop Christodoulos venerated the shrines in the church of Blessed Basil, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan and the chapel of Our Lady of Iveron.

Then His Beatitude Archbishop Christodoulos and His Eminence Metropolitan Kirill went to the Donskoy monastery where the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church and his delegation venerated the all-honorable relics of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia, and lifted up ardent prayers at the shrine of this great Russian confessor of the 20th century.
