Dear Yuri Sergeyevich,

Please accept my sincere condolences with the demise of Academician Boris Victorovich Rauschenbach.

For many Russians he was the example of a scientist selflessly committed to science who exerted many efforts for the development of the national scientific and technical potential and of Russian culture. The range of his interests in science was amazingly wide and included many philosophical subjects.

When the Russian Orthodox Church experienced hard times, Boris Victorovich gave it considerable moral support, while during church revival he became an active founder of the dialogue between faith and science, between the Church and the academic world.

I ask you to convey my sincere condolences to the relatives and near ones of the newly-deceased.

May the Lord rest his soul in the mansions of the righteous. Memory eternal to him.
