MEETING OF THE CHRISTIAN INTERCONFESSIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Christian Interconfessional Advisory Committee (CIAC) met on January 31 at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The meeting was chaired by the CIAC cochairmen, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, DECR chairman, Archbishop Taddeucz Kondruciewisz, apostolic administrator of the Latin rite Catholics in the European Russia, and Rev. P. Konovalchik, chairman of the Union of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists in the Russian Federation.
The committee considered some organizational matters involved in the plan to hold in May an Interconfessional Youth Conference “I am with you to the end of the world (Mt. 28:20) – Christianity in the 21st Century”. The themes for the round-table talks at the conference were defined as “Youth work methods in Christian churches. Opportunities for cooperation and exchange of experience”; “Christian witness in contemporary society”; “Theological schools: opportunities for interaction”; “Christian morality: problems of alcoholism, drug-addition, prostitution, etc.”; “The civic position of the young Christian: politics, army”; “Sectarianism, Satanism, totalitarian ideologies”; “Youth and culture: music, cinema, attitude to mass media. The impact of mass media on psychology and the way of life”; and “Christianity and secularism: what kind of future will we have?”
