DEMISE OF HIS BEATITUDE PATRIARCH DIODOROS

His Beatitude Diodoros I, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, passed away in the Lord at about 22.00 on December 19, the Commemoration Day of St. Nicholas, at the Hadassa-Ein Karem hospital in Jerusalem, at the age of 76, after a prolonged illness.

Metropolitan Timothy of Vostra, general secretary of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, asked Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia and His Eminence Kirill, Metropolitan Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, to lift up prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Patriarch Diodoros in the mansions of the righteous.
