Delegations of the Patriarchates of Moscow and Constantinople meet in Zurich

DELEGATIONS OF THE PATRIARCHATES OF MOSCOW AND CONSTANTINOPLE MEET IN ZURICH

Delegations of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Constantinople met for talks on June 23 in Zurich, Switzerland. The Moscow Patriarchate was represented by Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations and Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Ismail; the Patriarchate of Constantinople by Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia, general secretary of the Synod, and Metropolitan John of Pergamon.

The sides discussed possible models of joint actions for normalizing the situation of Orthodoxy in Ukraine and in other places where schisms have emerged.
