AN ‘ORTHODOXY ON THE THRESHOLD OF THE THIRD MILLENNIUM’ THEOLOGICAL CONFERENCE OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH WILL TAKE PLACE IS MOSCOW

An ‘Orthodoxy on the Threshold of the New Millennium’ theological Conference of the Russian Orthodox Church will be held from February 7 to 9, 2000. The forum will evaluate the present state and prospects of the modern Orthodox theology and will analyse topical theological problems appearing in the inner life of the Church and in its ministry to the world.

Previous theological conference on the church-wide level were held more than ten years ago on the threshold of the Millennium of the Baptism of Russia. During this period of time considerable changes have occurred in the life of the Church and society, which demand serious theological interpretation. Results and recommendations of the Conference will be submitted to the coming Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Taking part in the theological forum will be His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, hierarchs, leaders and staff members of the Synodal Departments and commissions, rectors, professors and lecturers of the theological academies and seminaries and theological educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church.
