INTERCONFESSIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET IN A PLENARY SESSION
The Inter-confessional Advisory Committee (ICAC) met on January 27, 1999, for a plenary session at the Department for External Church Relations.
It was attended by representatives of most of the Christian confessions in the CIS and Baltic countries, including the Armenian Apostolic Church, Supreme Old-Believers’ council in Lithuania, Georgian Orthodox Church, Old Orthodox Archdiocese of Novozybkov, Moscow and All Russia, Old Orthodox Pomor in Latvia, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia, Euro-Asian Federation of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists, Union of Seventh-day Christians-Adventists in Western Russia, Roman Catholic Church, Council of the Old Orthodox Pomor Church in Russia, Russian Orthodox Church in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia; Russian Old Believers’ Church, Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists in the Russian Federation, Union of the Evangelical Faith Christians in Russia, and the Church of Seventh-Day Christians-Baptists.
As a result of discussions and exchange of opinions held in the atmosphere of benevolent and constructive dialogue, the participants made a decision to hold an Jubilee Conference devoted to the 2000th anniversary of the Birth of Christ on November 23-25, 1999, in Moscow.
It was also agreed to set up the ICAC council which will have as its task to coordinate the future work of this inter-confessional body.
