Metropolitan Kirill meets with WCC General Secretary Rev. Samuel Kobia

On 5 July 2006, the Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad met with the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches Rev. Dr. Samuel Kobia.

Different aspects of the relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the WCC and the Orthodox participation in this international Christian organization were discussed. The participants named the interreligious dialogue as a most important dimension of cooperation among Christians of different confessions.

Taking part in the meeting were also the DECR deputy chairman Rev. Vsevolod Chaplin and the DECR secretary for interchristian relations Rev. Igor Vyzhanov.
